The Time Is Finally Here!

Posted by: Confessions From A Work-At-Home Mom in ,

I've been waiting and anticipating and obsessing over this day for months, ever since I first learned the big news last fall... and now, it's finally here! I can't even begin to contain my excitement!

No, I'm not talking about Baby C's impending birth -- which, yes, is now just three days away (ok, three days from my due date, which as I've said, is completely arbitrary).

I'm talking about the Royal Wedding!

I was always bummed that Charles and Diana got married before I was old enough to watch and enjoy television; I felt like I missed out on some crucial globo-social event in the history of the world. But now, that situation is finally being remediated.

By this time tomorrow, Prince William and Kate Elizabeth Middleton (what? another British royal with Elizabeth in her name? I was SO born in the wrong country) will be husband and wife... and future heirs to the throne. What dress will she wear? How will she do her hair? How lavish will the ceremony turn out to be?

BBC America launches its wedding day coverage at 3am here on the East Coast; I am seriously contemplating setting my alarm so I can tune in to each and every minute. Initially, when the engagement was announced, my plan was to host an English tea party for all my friends -- but when I realized the nuptials would take place in the early hours of the morning AND that I would be days shy of 40 weeks pregnant, I decided against a party. But still, I have some crumpets and scones in the pantry and a pot of English Breakfast tea brewing on the stove for my own personal celebration.

Will you be watching tomorrow? Why or why not?

Nope! I'll be sleeping. :) When we wake up, we'll be going out to the park to enjoy the beautiful day we're supposed to have. Have fun watching! The tea party is cute.

P.S. Baby C! Make your appearance already!

I will be watching it too! I heard it was coming on tv at 4am but I am going to set my DVR to start recording. So when I get up i can catch up and watch. I want to see what she's wearing, the whole thing.

I will definately be watching! I plan to set my alarm and watch it until I pass out. I am an American born in England and I remember the wedding of Charles and Diana. It was ALL that played on television all day. For a 6 year old, it was terrible, but now I think it is pretty cool.

Absolutely not.

Not sure why, but I have never gotten into the Royal Family. I think it has to do with the disgust I have for the tabloid invasion with Princess Di & our own Kennedy's.

I am definitely watching! I missed C&D's wedding in 1981 as I wasn't yet born (I do love saying that but am dreading the day someone tells me they missed Wills & Kate's wedding for that reason), so this is a BIG DEAL!

I'm going to bed a 8pm tonight to be up at 4am - whoo-hoo!

I'll watch whatever part of the ceremony is on when I'm up to feed Brennan, but that's probably about it. I'm not really into it all. But...if you want a couple of fun little facts:
1. I am distantly related to Princess Di. The Spencers on my mom's mom's side of the family are from those Spencers-- the Lady Diana Spencers. Obviously too distant to deserve a royal wedding invite.
2. The woman that plays Kate in the Lifetime movie that just came out is Camilla Luddington. She was one of Eric's best friend's (our best man at our wedding) housemates for the first two years he lived in LA. When we went out to LA in 2006, she was still living with Ryan and worked at a sushi restaurant down the road. She served us sushi one night. And while it is just a Lifetime movie, it's probably the closest I'll get to "knowing" a celebrity. I have been watching her when she's been on E!, GMA, etc.

I am kind of disappointed C didn't make his appearance on my birthday today!

Nope- there are few things I love more than sleep. But I'll definitely catch some coverage later in the day- I'm sure they'll be replaying it all for months. I'm sure Kate will be a beautiful bride.

I won't be watching but figure by the time I get to work, pictures will be all over the internet. I am curious what the dress will look like... they are a beautiful couple!

I was up and watching. I refused to leave for my drive to work until I saw her get out of the car and see the dress. Which by the way looks so much better in a still photo on cnn then on tv. My mom even bought a tiara for my daughter to wear while she watched (she just turned one) so exciting
