What's in a name?
A "G" by any other name would smell as sweet (unless she has a poopy diaper!).

This blog carnival is truly as easy as it sounds...
Each week, The (Un)Experienced Mom and I will pick a category, then ask you to share your Top 3 thoughts on it. We hope you'll play along with us!
This week, we want to know...
I know you're all on the edge of your seats, thinking I am finally going to unveil what "G" stands for... sorry, not gonna happen! Instead, I am going to put my own little twist on my own meme (is that even allowed?) and share with you the Top 3 names that-- over the years-- I had wished I was named. Feel free to put your own twist on this week's question as well!
#3) Stacy. Ahhhhh, yes-- before she was "Fergie" of Black Eyed Peas fame, she was "Stacy Ferguson" from the 80's TV show on the Disney Channel, "Kids Incorporated". Man, I loved that show, and I loved Stacy. I loved her feathered bangs. I loved her tiered jean skirts and acid washed jean jacket. I even thought she made braces look cool. So for most of the 80's, I wanted to be called "Stacy" (since I couldn't, I vowed some day, my first daughter would have this ultra-hip name... obviously, she doesn't).
#2) Brooke. My maiden name starts with a "B", and for much of the 90's, I thought I would be substantially cooler if my name was "Brooke B" (a la Brooke Burke), and people called me "Beebee" for short. Hmm, how uncool was I if I thought a simple name change would suddenly make me Ms. Popular?
And the name I really wish my parents had named me is...
#1) Samantha. I'm actually thinking of the THREE Samantha's who recently participated in a T3T as I write this. But growing up, I didn't know a single Samantha. But I knew plenty of Elizabeths... in fact, on my freshman hall at Duke, there were FOUR of us. FOUR out of 20 girls named Elizabeth. It was a logistical nightmare for our R.A. I spent that year thinking that if my parents had named me "Samantha"-- as my dad wanted to (even though he didn't come up with the name until I was 8 months old, so it was kinda pointless by that time)-- that I would stand out as so much more as an individual.

I totally love it the names are real simple and beautiful... I look forward to everyone elses names today as well.
LOVE Brooke. In fact, once we do get around to having another one and if that other one is a girl, I'm seriously in love with the name Brooklynn and calling her Brooke. Although I also really like Elizabeth. Something about having two kids with classic names (Cate is really Catherine) appeals to me.
Of course once we're pregnant, #2 could also be a boy which throws a wrench in the whole thing. Brennan is the only name we semi-agree on.
Kids Incorporated! I loved that show! I remember Stacy's cool clothes.
My favorite name, I gave to my daughter - Katarina
This reminds me of my teen daughter who decided a couple of years ago that her first name is too common, although she has never known anyone personally with it - LOL. So, she decided to have everyone at school, including teachers, call her by her middle name which is not common.
Yay! I'm a Samantha. Growing up, I was the only Samantha like anywhere. I don't think I even knew anyone with that name personally. Now though, it seems everyone's name is Samantha, and most of the girls are a lot younger than me. Makes me sad. I can honestly say, I always loved my name, but I was obsessed with show "Clarissa Explains It All" when I was little, and wanted to be called Clarissa for a while haha...
Then I got tired of Samantha, so I wanted everyone to call me Lauren.
Then I got over that, and was happy with Samantha.
Kids Incorporated, K-I-D-S!
I never really wished for a specific name, but wished that I was named something other than "Jene." There's a French accent aigu (that I can't efficiently enter in HTML) and it's constantly pronounced wrong. It's supposed to be like Renee, but with a J.
Now that I'm older I like my name, but man, was it annoying growing up. No bike license plates, no personalized pencils, nothing.
The name I always wished for was Wendy or Connie! Basically any of the teenage girls names on Just the Ten of Us. Remember that show? Hilarious!I'm off for vacation today. Have a great Birthday Bash week!!
My parents changed the spelling of my name a full month after I was born...it's a logistical nightmare applying for driver's licenses and whatnot (the amended form of my birth certificate is on the BACK of my birth certificate, so they're like um, this isn't the same person...and I'm like, no, it is...)
i always wanted to be named alexis. no clue as to why.
and i wanted to name ava "eliot" but matt wouldn't let me. silly matt.
If we were to ever have a second girl, I absolutely love the name Vivienne (though only that spelling - isn't that strange?). The only trouble is that some of D's friends are having a baby next month and naming her Vivian. Son of a...I still hold we can use the name, but in case he freaks out, I also love Natalia.I just don't like 'Nat' or 'Natty' so I'm not sure where that leaves us.
For a boy, I love the name Jack.
I love thinking up baby names...I love names that are different...not too weird but not common. Except I named my son Christian Kyle(not too out of the norm, huh?)
I love the name Paisley and if my son had been a girl his name would have been Kentucky Rayne (strange, I know)
I love the name Cain,Cruz and Canyon...hmmm maybe I shoul dhave had triplet boys????
I love coming up with baby names. If I could have a dozen kids I would, because naming them is just so fun. I'll save my names for my blog post. I'm going to have a hard time with picking just 3.
I was hoping you were going to reveal G's name, but it's all good.
LOL! I always wanted to be Lori Kay, as that was the name my mom had picked out for me. I was mad she chose "Kristi" at the last minute. But now that I'm older, I like Kristi a lot better!!
I ALWAYS wanted to be Elizabeth. It's still one of my favorite names. I LOVED Elizabeth from The Waltons (I know most of you probably don't even know who The Waltons are!) and Elizabeth is the middle name of Laura Ingalls-Wilder (Little House on the Prairie). Elizabeth is now my first born's middle name. I totally would have changed it if my mom would've let me.
I also really like Sabrina - I grew up watching Charlie's Angels and she was the cute tomboy of the show. She wasn't constantly flipping her hair and flirting with boys and she knew karate. COOL!
WOW! I am REALLY showing my age today!
Also, I have a really weird name. TANYA. It used to be the name of suntan lotion, or so I'm told. AND it's with an A, not an O. I would have taken almost any "normal" name instead of mine. Mine is ALWAYS pronounced wrong.
hehehe, I totally wanted to be named Brooke too... I thought it was sooooo cool...
And Lindsey, Brittany, Ashley, all the "normal" names... I didn't know one single other girl named Lily growing up... but now its like one of the most popular names =)
I like Brooke definitely! Hope you have a great Thursday!
Aurora and Alexander (obviously lol) and Sloan! I LOVE the name Sloan or Sloane for a guy or girl but esp. a girl!
I like Croft or Willow for a girl and Simon and Bryce for a boy.
My name's Samantha! But I go by Sammy or Sam most of the time, Samantha is my professional name haha. I'm pretty content on my name now, but I used to think I thought it was to ordinary. Funny how everyone always wants a different name as a kid.
I'm rather fond of my name: Amy. Though I can remember not knowing any adults with my name.
My daughter is Madeleine (which the Hubs picked and I love.)
Rather fond of Sophia, Katherine or Georgia but Hubs has knixed them all for this next child.
How do you follow Madeleine?
Sam and Jack are my two favorite boy names....but I want another girl (crossing fingers.)
I've always liked Kayla. I think because I watched Days of our Lives back in the day when Patch and Kayla were popular. Hahahaha
Okay, believe it or not, I always wanted boys names. Todd, Scot (although I told myself that was short for Scotlyn, a la Scotland. I was so creative at 10). And now that I'm grown up, I love the name Anneliese which I'm still holding out hope if there's a baby #2 that I can win on that one.
when i was in that jr high stage where you tell boys you don't know your name is something else, i always used samantha
i loved that it could be shortened to sam
my 3 favs...
of course
adessa
tayla
abriella
b/c they are my girls :)
boy names are so tough for me
though gentry has been our #1
That is too funny, I also wished I was named Brooke or Samantha, like it would have changed me or something! But now I'm just happy with Jen.
Audrey, I love the name Audrey and always have. My cousin named her first baby girl Audrey, so if we ever have a girl... I am not sure if I could use it :-( They named their 2nd daughter Natalie, and I like that name a lot too. They are just awesome at names I guess.
I'd have to think of two others...
oh my gosh! I LOVED kids encorporated too! I had know idea that was Fergie! Wow!
Anyway, I love Brookelynn. I'm going to play along this week on post about top three favorite names.
I LOVE that show too. Use to watch it every time it was one.
And I LOVE the name Samantha. It is 2nd to what we want to name a daughter. So unless we have twins this go around, probably never use it.
I'm feeling pretty darn special right now with the name Brooke. :)
My favorite name was always Emma, so I named my daughter that. I love Abigail and Olivia as well.
Omgosh, I loved Kids Incorporated! :-) My first name was always pretty unique, but I swear to you I think every girl in 1976 must have had the same *middle* name as me!
Kids Inc. Now that's a blast from the past.
Haven't commented in a while...HI!
I named my daughter Samantha...and just LOVE it! Her nickname is SamSam as we're not fans of Sami, ok, hubby isn't...I like it! but I'm a Days fan...lol
But in my teens, I wished my name was Kathrine...I made it my "bar" name...y'know, when ya don't want the guy to actually know your name...LOL
I have an award over at my blog for you :)
I left something for you over at my blog. =)
Toni @ Hemp & High Heels
Ok, seriously?! SERIOUSLY!? You and I are so parted at birth. You know I was almost named Samantha and I didn't think anyone else but me remembered Kids Incorporated. You know, Mario Lopez in the pre-AC Slater days. With the cheesy outfits, hairstyles, and singing routines. And then Stacy, aka. Fergie, went on to that group called, I think, Wild Orchid or something.
Yes...I miss chatting friend! ;-(
