Make sure to come back on Monday, May 10th for our next "Read It Forward" party! Remember, you can add new or used books to the blog hop!
***************************************
Just when you thought I was done with bloggy gimmicks, I am back at it with something brand-(been there)-spanking-(done that)-new.
For the past week, my blog's headline has been advertising this "Read It Forward" campaign. I must say, I think it's pretty darn cool. As a working mom, most of my life is spent working (hence the title of this blog) or being a mom (again, see blog's title). But when I get a little me time, the first place I head is the book store. But dang, buying a new book every week (ok, ok, that's an exaggeration-- it's more like every month, if I'm lucky) is expensive. That's where the idea for this new monthly blog party comes in. Every month, Foursons and I will host a party that gives you the chance to (1) review one of your favorite reads, (2) pass it on to one of your blog readers, and if luck is on your side, (3) get a new book to read in return! Here's how it works:
If you'd like to receive the books we have on our blogs today, leave a comment. The winner will be selected using Random.org, just like a standard giveaway. If you have a book you'd like to give away on your own blog, please write up a short review, grab our button, and add your name to the InLinkz.
Once a month, we'll host this blog hop to give you a chance to pass a book you love on to another blogger. All we ask is...
1) If you receive a book from another blogger during this book hop, please promise that you'll ultimately pass it on using this blog hop as well. It can be the next month, or two months, or three months down the road-- not everyone has a whole bunch of time to read, so the timeline is yours to decide!
2) Once you receive a book, make sure to add your blog name and URL to the inside cover. That way, the people who receive that book in the future will know where it's been.
3) You can add a book to the blog hop at any time. So if you don't have a book you'd like to give away this month, don't worry! You can add something next month, or the month after, or the month after!
Now, here's the book I'm giving away!

You may be thinking, where have I heard that author's name before? Brashares is actually the author of the very popular "Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants" series (which has since been turned into several movies starring Blake Lively, among others). This is Brashares's first foray into more adult literature.
At first, I was skeptical... I thought, surely, that there's no way an author who so accurately and eloquently described and analyzed the female teenage mind could move on to a different genre. I was wrong. This story had me absolutely captivated. There were times when my stomach turned to knots, as the two sisters at the center of this book (Alice & Riley) waged a silent war against each other, and the man at the center of this book: Paul. I loved him. I hated him. I wanted to passionately rip his clothes off (just like Alice) and make love to him. I also wanted to wring his neck.
But unlike the last book I told you about (damn you, Beatrice!), this book does have a happy ending. I hope (one of you!) will enjoy it as much as I have!

Ohmygosh! This is a FANTASTIC idea! I'm always looking for new things to read, and I love passing on my own recommendations. So brilliant.
Good idea and certainly something to make one of the many voracious readers here happy.
What a great idea! I'll definitely have to check out this title. I loved the Traveling Pants back in the day :)
that sounds awesome! sounds like a great book too
I love this idea that you & Julie have come up with!!

Hope you had a great birthday!
It's a fantastic idea!!!!
What an awesome idea! I love passing on books. I have one friend who I always send my books to because she is the only friend I have that enjoys reading, ha!
What a great campaign! Any "gimmick" that promotes reading gets an A+ in my book! Now I just need to think of a book I'd recommend that I can actually part with.
Very good idea! My only issue is that most of books are on my Kindle these days. LOL

This is a great idea! plus, I have so many books that I could giveaway... I am already writing a review on a book I am reading right now, I will definitely link it up when I finish the book. =)
Don't enter me- I already read this, but I think this is a cute idea! I want to participate, but already triple-dipped today.

This is such a great idea! I'd love to play along- but I will have to wait till next week to find a book to giveaway on my blog! :) Thanks for such a great idea!!
I love this idea! Once my son's in bed I'm going to raid my bookshelf and decide which book to review and share first.
I'd love to read this book because -- OK, I'll admit it -- even as an adult, I was captivated by the "Traveling Pants" series. I hadn't realized that this same author had also written adult literature, so I'm now curious and would love to read this book!
OH, I love this idea!!!! I have a few books I'd be happy to offer up that I've read and loved. What a great idea!!
And, I've read all of the Traveling Pants books and watched the movies. So yea, I'm all about anything by the same author! :)
Lululemons are the BOMB,,once you get over sticker shock and LIVE in them and see how great your butt looks you WILL be hooked!!
I love it so much I own stock in the company...seriously
This book sounds great! I never read The Traveling pants books and loved them so here is another must read to add to the list!
What a great idea!
I wanna join!
I'm gonna join!
Yay!
Ooh! I've been wanting to read this!!
I'm going to try this when I get home
LOVE the idea!! Although I LOVE my Kindle, this is something I can do, because I don't have to keep the books!
Super, super, super, super fantastic idea! I love getting new books! I usually get them at the thrift store for 50 cents. And then donate them back. This will be much funner!
I read The Last Summer of You and Me a couple of years ago. Definitely a roller coaster!
I love this idea; I think I told you that. If I did... so I said it again.
It's late (my "free" time) and I swear I read "picture book" instead of...well, you know...
Not one minute right now for extra reading which I totally adore. But I'll be back. Good luck to all. Once again, I love the idea. (yeh, so I said it again; wanna make something of it????)
This is a great idea. I can't say "yes" to something I can't commit to though. My goal this year was to read one book/month. It's april and I'm halfway through three different books... I'm hopeless! :)
