This week, we want to know...
I'm going to be the first to admit that I am an odd duck. I think a lot of time, I exhibit my nervous tendencies through physical neurosis. Well, for example...
#3) My obsession with my eyebrows. It's actually a condition called trichotillomania. I can actually remember the exact moment it began. I was a sophomore in high school, with very unruly eyebrows. A good friend (we'll just call her "C", since sometimes she-- and some of our other classmates from HS-- stop by and read my blog) asked me why I let them grow so bushy. Ever since, I took not to tweezing my brows but to individually plucking them... with my fingers. The more anxious I am, the more I do it. It drives my boss crazy, and she's always yelling at me to leave my brows alone.
#2) I like to pop my husband's pimples. I know, it's gross, but I'm sure I'm not the only one (even if I am the only one who will admit it). Don't worry, I'll take the heat for all of us when Scott and Doug lay into me! (I'm waiiiiiiiting!)
And my biggest quirk is...
#1) My "busy fingers". I think it was Margaret that I was emailing with about this last week (she provided the inspiration for this week's question!). I told her how I am so used to typing-- either for work, or for my blog-- that even when I am simply having a conversation, I tend to "type" it out with my fingers. DH thought it was really weird when we first met, but now he's gotten used to it. And I have to say, as strange a habit as it is, it's definitely helped my words-per-minute (91 WPM, baby!)

I wish someone would have told me about my brows in high school! Strange that you pick them with your fingers though...
I am a total pimple popper too.. doesn't matter if they are on me or DH... I go after them.
Oh my gosh girl- quirky indeed!
I do not pop other people's pimples, but my husband does. I find it to be absolutely disgusting.
Wow- plucking with your fingers. I would think that would hurt, but then again so does tweezing.
The typing cracks me up, I'd love to see video of that!
#2 - eewww, but I'm sure your hubby appreciates the help.
1.) I'm a total pimple squisher too..the bigger the better...TMI? sorry.
2.) I am a picker. I pick my face, my neck, my ears...when I'm stressed you will see little scabs all about. I'm posting about this next week actually.
3.) and lastly (good thing I only have to pick 3, I have a lot) when I get a brand new magazine in the mail if ANYONE touches it or looks at it before me, I go APE on them. Always have. I find this strange too but I have never been able to break this behavior!!

I have to admit that I've been known to pop zits on my hubs' back...not on his face though. My favorite weirdo quirk is to "peel" his skin off after a sunburn. Gross, yes, but oh so satisifying. LOL
Ditto on the brows ... and as far as poping your husbands pimples- ummm ... I can not believe you thought of that and I am not ashamed to admit that I too have been caught sqishin a blackhead on his back. YUCK!
I have way too many quircks to even pick three, plus mine are more the deep-seated-issue kind, not charming or funny little oddities about me. Yours, however, had me laughing out loud!
As for the three year old left behind? I don't know about criminal charges, but I know that it would scar my three year old for life if that happened to him, and i imagine how terrified the little guy must have been, and it kills me.
I'll admit it....#2 I pop them, and I like it!!
The sound of feet rubbing on carpet causes me physical pain in my brain. I can't take it...even for just a second. It drives my husband crazy (except when he uses it to drive me crazy! Nice, right?)
The typing cracks me up!
I pop dh's pimples. It's gross, but I do it anyway. See, I'll admit to it along with you.
Now just wait one minute...are you ME? Seriously. The eyebrows one, and the pimple popping one....that's me! My eyebrows are one of my biggest quirks - I am constantly making sure each hair is in place. My husband will mess them up just to screw with me.
I'll admit it...I do #2 & #3. I also have a weird tendency to spell out words [letter by letter] in my mind when I'm thinking of something in my head [especially when I'm in the shower!]

1) I read instructions and it drivers others nuts as the temptation for most is to start doing and figure it out along the way.
2) Before all the early am diaper changes, I was a bit paranoid about oversleeping. Setting 3 alarms usually meant that I would forget to turn one off before leaving the room--the Mrs. never appreciated the blaring sound.
3) I like foods that I can eat quickly. A steak dinner at a nice restaurant served in muliple courses would be torture for me.
I am definitely NOT a pimple popper. I cannot even hardly stand to look at them...lol
That's funny about typing while you talk though. I used to do that when I would hear a piano play. I'd be playing air piano :)
Can I just copy and paste yours?? Well, except I can't do it with my fingers. How do you do that?! And also, we need to have a type-off. :-D
I hope to do this today, but I have the flu. I may go back to bed instead!

#2 kind of freaks me out...lol I hate anything that ozzes ...But I have bad habbits too so oh well =) I may play along if I get time and feel some motivation and lack of sadness today .

I do the pimple thing too...but now that I don't have a Hubs anymore, it's a little weird...I'll see one on a stranger and want to pop it so bad--gross right, I don't do it, so that SHOULD count for something right?!
Just three? I have too many to count.
1. Celery. Even typing out the word makes me wretch. I hate looking at it, the smell makes me gag, and don't even get it anywhere near me. I HATE it.
2. I pick. It's my nervous habit, and the more stressed out I am, the more little marks and scabs you'll find. It's a horrible habit.
3. I'm a fanatic teeth brusher. Not the worst habit to have, but still awkward when you're carrying around a toothbrush in your car, purse, diaper bag, etc.
That is sooo sad about the little three year old boy! He is so cute too! I don't see how your own child!

You TOO with the eyebrows? HELLO soulmate.
Mine are sparse and patchy by nature. It drives me nuts. And I'm sure that they're crooked. And one has a freckle. But I maintain them like mad. I always check out peoples' eyebrows...like, seriously...CHECK OUT peoples' eyebrows. I have extreme jealousy towards a pretty, dark haired girl in my town who has full flawless eyebrows with a perfect arch and no strays.
By the way...the eyebrow thing is way contagious. I've given eyebrow anxiety to my BFF and an ex BF (ew).
Psst...thanks for the hair compliment. I'll feed off of that one for a week. ;D

#2 well ex hubby 2 asked me too but seriously yuck!! I had to use a tissue.
The girl in front of me at work squeezes the sits on her face. Drives me batty!! We are in glass cubicles so it's hard to miss. I pick my nose in defiance. I mean really dig for it. Take that. Haha.
91 wpm??? Holy cow. I thought I was fast because I was in the 70s. My quirk..I sleep with my baby blanket. Ah ha ha
I wonder how many wpm I can type. I know for a fact that it's not 91. THAT is impressive!!
My quirk...I do everything in even numbers. It used to be much worse...like separating my peas worse, but as an adult I've reigned it in a little bit. OCD much?

EWWW on the pimples!!! I can't believe how many people said they do this too! LOL!!
1 - I am OCD...I will have something in my head that's bugging me...a picture crooked, something out of place, and I can't forget about it until it's fixed.
2 - I'm a planner...everything has to be planned in advanced..as far in advance as possible, down to as much detail as I can!
3 - I can't STAND the sound of a metal spoon scraping the bottom and sides of a bowl. My husband does this when eating anything from a bowl and it drives me nuts!
4 - I like to use lots of ellipses.....LOL!
You "tweeze" your brows with your fingers? Honestly that makes me kind of jealous, lol.. I've tried to pluck a stray hair or two before with my fingers, but I can never get them!

I need sleep. Did I mention that somewhere before? I wrote my Top 3, posted it and never linked it. Went and read some others and then checked my blog. There were 0, zero comments. I thought, what??? Then I realized I forgot to linky it. I'm working on 3 nights of bad sleep. I told hubs that I feel like I have a newborn again and my youngest is 2 1/2!! Maybe tonight.

I forgot... trichotillomania, I saw a episode on TLC about a woman who had that. She plucked her arm hair, her hair on her head. That can be a serious thing. Glad to hear you're pretty light hearted about it!

Those are funny! I wasn't sure if you meant our own quirks or those of others. Sorry I didn't link up today. My biggest quirk is probably knuckle cracking. I do it all the time, even in my sleep. I can even crack my toes just by rolling them under my feet!
i don't believe i could get a good enough grip to pluck my eyebrows with my fingers...and i have a lot of eyebrow too..so does my poor daugther, catepillar brows
1. i'm a bit ocd too...i have senses about what feels right and what doesn't...like maybe i step a certain way and it doesn't "feel" right/lucky/whatever--i have to undo and redo it..then i have to do it 4 times--becaues it's an even number--and 2 is even, but 4 is 2, 2x, so it's doubly even. i also have to chew even amounts on both sides of my mouth and the volume on the tv or radio can only be set to even number--preferebly in sets of 4--we listen to things on level 12 usually--though 8 would be luckier--it would be too quiet
2. i'm deathly afraid of some things though i come off very brave--my fears or irrational one--i'm afraid at nighttime i'm going to get killed--if i go outside at night at home alone i think something will get me--a rapist, coyotes, monsters, aliens, any of those things--if my kids start talking about monsters under the bed i think i'll run (but i'm really brave in the daylight...unless i'm alone and get a weird feeling...then same as the above situation)
3. i'm a bit obsessive about recycling...like i will pull the paper off of things that contain other materials to recycle the parts i can

Other people's pimples bother me too. I have to restrain myself from popping them!
I have a weird thing with the number 24. I don't know why or when it came about but I'm always counting things to 24. Also, I'm all about routine when I go to bed. I have to do everything in the same order. I'm not superstitious but for some reason I just don't feel right if I don't follow my routine exactly.
Only 3 quirks? I could probably think of 20, but I bet hubby could come up with 200 crazy and annoying things about me.

I am a door-checker. I always check doors before I go to bed, which is a good thing because sometimes family members leave them unlocked!
I have an eyebrow obsession, too!!!! OMG-I love you!
My sister would always hold me down and rub my eyebrows the wrong way when I was younger. It made me crazy. About 8 months ago, she taught my husband and girls to do it. She's evil. Pure evil.

I totally do the typing thing too. We can be singing hymns in church and I'm "typing" them on the back of the chair/pew in front of me. OR, I'll get hung up on some movie line while watching a movie and catch myself typing it throughout the movie.
Sure am glad I'm not the only one!

I used to be REALLY bad about the typing thing until about a year ago. And the zits? You're definitely not alone! SOMEBODY in our house ALWAYS pops the hubbys zits and it drives him batty :)

I keep my hands away from hubbys zits! He takes care of them himself. I use to break out all the time and messed with them until they were huge...yuk. Thankfully I have grown out of them. Finally in the 40's they go away...:)

I, too, have an addiction to plucking - I do it every morning and it's baaaaaaad. I've overplucked and have these ridiculously high maintenance brows now that aren't completely even. Ugh.
I also pop the hubs' pimples - we're both strangely fascinated with bumps. It's gross.
Norah has dry skin and I'm constantly picking picking picking at it and the hubs has told me to cease several times. I can't help it!
