Today's Headline...

Talk about a miserable way to celebrate your birthday...

Hear how a three-year-old boy was left behind-- forgotten-- at his OWN BIRTHDAY PARTY.

The World's Smallest Violin Is Playing Because I'm Not At Blissdom

Posted by: Confessions From A Working Mom

Do you hear that?

It's the world's smallest violin,
playing a somber little tune because
I am not at Blissom.

I was going to throw myself a little pity party because-- on the same day that some of my favorite bloggers (like The (Un)Experienced Mom!) are arriving at one of the country's biggest blogging conferences-- I am stuck here... at work... looking at four full week's of the February ratings period (aka: sweeps).

Turns out, I don't need to throw myself a pity party... because Amanda over at Serenity Now is doing it for me:

Amanda's all about promoting other bloggers, something I find totally admirable. And, since I'm not able to be at Blissdom promoting myself, I'm going to use this little corner of the web to do that instead.

So, without further ado, I present...

5 Reasons Why My Blog Rocks!

#1) I love to give things away. Whoever coined the phrase, "'Tis better to give than to receive" definitely nailed it on the head. Right now, I'm giving away this cool Clouds & Stars crib bedding set which will totally cut down on your nighttime diaper blowout frustrations. And on Sunday, I've got even more cool stuff to give ya... Don't want to give away any secrets, but it's going to turn your baby's bathtime into "spa"-time...

#2) I tell it like it is... and sometimes, that means telling YOU things I haven't even told my dearest friends (well, they figure it out once I lay it all out there online, I guess!). I strive to keep my blog an open and honest place, where there's no room for bull. Speaking of girls who don't have any time for bull, you've got to check out my friend Shell's blog, Things I Can't Say. She takes brutal honesty to a whole new level!

#3) My entire layout-- from my header to my background to my buttons-- is self-made. I really debated going to a custom layout over the holidays, and nearly asked for a blog makeover as my Christmas gift. But I just couldn't pull the trigger. And I like to help my fellow bloggers whenever I can with their graphic needs. In fact, I've made blog buttons for my friend's Heather and Jennifer! What can I say, it makes me feel crafty.

#4) I love to meet, interact with, and feature other bloggers. I only got started blogging about six months ago, but I find it's a great way not only to express my thoughts, but to meet like-minded (and sometimes, not-so-like-minded) women (and men!) as well. I have my weekly "Queen For A Week" feature, where readers nominate themselves to have their blog button displayed on my page for a week. And every eight weeks, I will select one randomly to win a $20 Starbucks giftcard. You can email me if you would like to nominate yourself (or another blogger!), but be warned; I've already had enough nominations to back me up til JUNE! I'm going to get to everyone though, and that's my God's honest promise!

#5) I am really working to foster a community on my blog, and I realize it's a two-way street. I read-- nay, cherish-- each and every comment I receive. So many times, what you write touches me, so I head to your blog and comment back. I also like to click on the bloggers that show up in my "Blog Frog" widget. I'd love to hear your ideas on how to develop our community even more; whether that's here, via email, or on twitter.

So, I may not be at Blissdom this week... but I am in a state of bliss, just knowing I'm part of a group of amazing women (and a few men, too!) like all of you.

I think your blog rocks too! :) I love my button by the way! :) I wish I was at blissdom too, but alas I'm stuck at work...just like you! *sigh*

I'm visiting from Amanda's party. You sound like a very busy lady! I'm off to explore your blog. I'm impressed that you did all of the design yourself!

Hey, Elizabeth! :) Thank you so much for linking up!

I am happy this morning that I decided to "throw" this party...just wish you could come over with a bottle of wine. If I wasn't partying with bloggy friends, I'd totally be playing that violin!!!

I had no idea you did your layout yourself...that's amazing! I LOVE it when bloggers go out of their way to help or feature other blogs. I've had some help along the way, and it makes such a difference. :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

So many comments. I just found your blog. IT does ROCK! I love that you describe yourself as full time working and full time mom. That is awesome! I also love the Duggars. Thanks for the news link. Will be back!

I think your blog rocks too! And I'm not just saying that bc you let me be queen for a week.

I think your blog is great...even though I am a new reader & follower. Really down to earth & honest....LOVE IT!

Don't be too bummed out on the trip....you still ROCK!

I am slightly jealous of the ladies who are at Blissdom but I don't think I'm ready for it yet anyways. I have only been blogging for a short time and I am an irregular blogger. lol.
Your #3, love it! I have been trying to find help forever. Well, not forever but I have been unsuccessful at making my blog 3 column. Maybe you can help me. I have also been dreaming of going to some one for a custom layout but I can't make myself yet...

I stopped by from Amanda's party, and I'm glad I did! I enjoyed your list and your other posts that I've been reading. Thanks! :)

I love what you have done here!
I come by every day :-)
Like you, my blog is all self-designed... I like it that way. I makes me feel crafty and I also like that I can change it whenever I want! Which reminds me, I need to get crackin on my blog button!

I wish I was at Blissdom too... would be so much funner than going to work to work on month-end accounting!

Wow, you did the whole design yourself? Very talented. #5 is one of my main reasons for blogging - I love the community.

I just started following you and I already really enjoy reading your blog :) I have NO CLUE how to make mine look better, I started in August but only started posting regularly in January. Any tips on how to make mine more personal? Right now its just a layout that Blogger already had.

Your blog does rock! I now have a Confessions addiction.

I agree, I both love your blog and I also have been having a bit of a pity party. Feeling a bit like a blog outsider. Feeling like I am 12 again and in junior high and nowhere near being allowed to talk to the cool kids :)

So enough of that. You have a fabulous blog and I love it!

Your blog does rock! You always have fun topics, it's interactive, and it really is a great way to keep up with you in between get-togethers!

Your blog truly does rock. I wish I were at Blissdom, as well. But two small children and a traveling husband make that a little difficult!

Your blog does rock and the look is fab!Your energy emanates from your blog and thats a good thing!

Your blog totally rocks!! (Now let me take the scrunchy out of my hair and spit out the gum I'm smacking like a valley girl....)

Your blog rocks so much, that I took your Truthful Tuesday stylings and made a new blog hop today called Thoughtful Thursdays (because sometimes you just gotta know what everyone else thinks) :)

"Imitation IS the best form of flattery...."

Sorry you are stuck at work =( very cool that someone else is promoting how awesome you are

I love watching 18 (no, now 19!! wow!) Kids and Counting, too, and also saw that news report yesterday! I'm glad that their 2 eldest sons were around to help that little girl out! I love reading the blogs of my friends to know more about what's going on in their lives than we may cover in our day-to-day emails, so I'm glad you blog!

wohoooo!!!
i am coming ovber from amandas and i am so glad i found you a and your blog!!
it rocks!!
i am highly impressed that you make buttons! too cool and i love the argyle background too!

I definitely think your blog rocks also! And I am in total and complete AWE that you did the whole layout yourself! I don't think I did anyting on my own, except had a LITTLE feedback in what's on my banner and my button! Otherwise, it was someone else's creative genius! You do great work!!

Your blog totally rocks. Especially the layout. I really love the way you have it organized. I'd love to mirror it someday!!!

Yep. You do rock! I can't believe you did the layout and design yourself!

Hi! I'm stopping over from Amanda's. Your blog totally rocks! Looking forward to getting to know you and blog better!I'm a huge Duggar fan too- that story was awesome!

Popped over from Amanda's and agree, your blog rocks! I think this is the first I've been here, so I'm off to explore the wilds :o)

Ok, so I just read the Duggar story and I am so sitting here crying...what an awesome story!

Oh, and your blog definitely rocks! I think I stop by once a day or so! ;) It is nice to hear from other working mammas.

Your blog does rock!

And thanks for the shout out!

I am amazed that you made this blog by yourself! Very impressive! Oh, and when I came over here, the first thing I saw was that you are a fan of the Duggars! My hubby got me their book for Christmas. We are big fans. I'm also impressed that you've only been blogging for 6 months and you have so many followers!

I love your blog, and your a total crack up. I am a new follower and already hooked.

Maybe this will help a little I left you an award on my blog so come on over...

I am blown away that you did the blog design yourself. I think I told you before, but it looks great.

I wish I could attend Blissdom too, but I think my husband would really think I was off my rocker then. As it is, he doesn't understand this blog obsession that has me in its grips.

I love visiting your blog ever since my first visit via SITS.

And...I love a self-designed blog, like myself. I figure they can't find an avatar anywhere to stick on my blog that will even resemble my beauty :)

And again...I've got a little violin playing for myself as well. I wished I was in Blissdom as well. Hoping to join in some future conference this year.

And finally...zip away sheets. Too good to be true. That's one of those...wish I would have thought of that!

Toodles.

Tickled Pink Twice

I will join your pity party. What can I bring? Maybe next year we can go! Your blog does rock. Great job on doing everything yourself!

Your blog does rock! I agree, It's great reading other women's blog and being part of a community. We have so much in common even though we live on the other side of the country!

This was a great post. I'm here from Amanda's...nice to meet you! I look forward to perusing your blog more.

Hey! I'm here from Amanda's too. I've actually been to your blog once before and couldn't find it after my computer crashed. So good to be here again. You sound like a very busy lady! I'm a part-time housekeeper and I don't have a "real job".

Your blog DOES rock and I love reading it! It's been so fabulous getting to see how far you've come from our days at HHS :-)

Your blog does ROCK and thanks for leaving a comment on my blog, or I am not have found you!

You've done all this yourself?? Wow. I am really impressed.

I like your style. I enjoyed getting to know you a bit today via Amanda's party. Your family is just beautiful. But then, maybe I'm biased--I've got a six-and-a-half-foot husband, too!

I am so sad I am not at Blissdom too!! To many home comments.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog at The Brouse House. I have been reading through your blog and you crack me up! By the way I totally didn't know Tila Tequila was pregnant. I thought I was up to date on hollywood with my US weekleys and E TV. I got my daughters outfit from Gap. I bought it before Christmas so I don't know if they still have it. The boots are from Walmart.
You baby G is so cute! Loved your labor story. It is so worth it!

I'm still suck on the part about you designed all of this yourself. WHAA?

*High five*

You're awesome.

I'm obsessed with The Duggars, too. I don't get the Duggar-hate. I think they're good peeps. Weird, but good.

Elizabeth, I have said time and time again that your blog is one of my favorites. I love it! I also love that you take the time to my comment on my little blog! Keep up the wonderful posts!

~Mindy
