This week, Tila (Ms. Tequila, if you're nasty) became the latest "celebrity" (I use that term lightly, because she is far from a real "star") to end her relationship with the microblogging website. She follow the likes of Miley Cyrus (who quit tweeting in October) and Chris Brown (who cut off his Twitter account in December).I'll be the first to admit that I was a little (ok, more than just a little) behind the times when it came to Twitter. In fact, my boss had an account months before I signed up. That's why I find it so disappointing that now-- just as I'm getting used to the 140 character concept-- all the celebrities are leaving (please note: I'm partially kidding about that last part).
But Tila, Miley, and Chris aren't the only ones...
In researching this post, I found some pretty interesting facts: 1.) 10% of Twitter users account for 90% of the activity on the site, and 2.) 60% of Twitter users quit within their first month on the site. And many of those "Twitter quitters" turn out to be "one twit wonders"... literally leaving a single message, then never tweeting again.

Yup, that's President Obama sending his first Tweet via @RedCross just a few weeks ago in the wake of the Haiti earthquake. It was the President's first tweet, just a few months after he publicly admitted, "My thumbs are too clumsy to type in things on the phone,"-- and said he'd never sent a single tweet.
Now, I've already made it past the crucial one-month quitting deadline... and I've sent more tweets than the leader of the free world... and I want to follow you, too! So...
And I will add you to my follow list TODAY!

I started following you yesterday I belive. I occasionally twitter, more now that I have my a phone with internet although many of my in person friends (as opposed to blog friends) do not have twitter. I am Mommahunt16

I do hope that one twit got medical attention. My Mom is a one Twit wonder. Last October she wrote, "Enjoying the beach..." and that was it. Nothing else.
I set up an account because my best friend thought she wanted to start using Twitter, so I set one up to follow her. I think I posted one or two tweets ever, and have never been back. Nothing personal to anyone, but I really don't need to know when you are brushing your teeth or eating lunch! So I don't see the point of Twitter at all. I could tell you my account info, but there's really no point since I never use it!
I liked your tip of the day, found the info on SIDS interesting.
I can't believe the President is now tweeting. Or commentating Duke basketball games! He's really trying too hard to become like everyone else, and a celebrity, more than being our President, at least that's my opinion.

Okay, I admit it, I am so out of the loop, I don't even use my cell phone. I held out on even getting one until after my daughter was born and have it now only in the event of an emergency. I don't think I've talked on it yet this year.
Twitter? You've got to be kidding! Who has time to do all this stuff and are people really so bored that they want to read messages like "I just had my nails done". Give me a break, I can hardly keep up with blogging!
