I LOVE Fridays!

Why do I love Fridays?

Because of the massive number of amazing blog carnivals!

I missed out on some of my favorites last week, including...
Friday Fragments!

Friday Fragments?

And boy, did I miss out last week... because Mrs. 4444s awarded me her:

For this frag from two weeks ago:

-Despite my own tip of the day more than two weeks ago to make your dinner reservations for Valentine's Day, I haven't made my OWN dinner reservations yet. At this rate, we'll be having a romantic dinner at Hardee's.

You'll all be happy to know,
DH and I did eventually make our
reservations, at our favorite place!

This week, all my frags are "Valentine's" themed:

-While we're talking about love, let's talk about bromance. Yes, that's "romance" with a "B" in front of it. I'm pretty sure DH is having one... with my co-worker! DH has never really had a best friend outside of his work since we moved here a few years ago, but ever since he and one of my co-workers started getting together for regular poker games, it's "J" this and "J" that at our house. Should I be worried?

-Speaking of co-workers, one of mine is celebrating her 5th wedding anniversary today with her husband! DH & I will celebrate our own 5-year anniversary in the spring; we'll be going away (leaving G for the first time overnight!) for a full week. We're stoked. But if we're talking about milestone marriages, then I have to mention my parents. This year will mark 35 years together for them. They are such an amazing example of what love, commitment, and sacrifice in a relationship are all about. Thank you so much for setting a wonderful example!

-Last weekend, DH & I took G to an indoor "bounce" playground. It was fabulous, and even though we spent a lot of the time dodging much-older children, G had the time of her life. We'll definitely going back. And the next time, I'll remember to change my socks before we go. Somehow, I completely forgot to exchange my fuzzy, pink, bedroom slipper-socks for athletic socks before leaving home. The worst part? I didn't realize I was wearing my bedroom socks until we got HOME! I probably looked like such a dork.

I had so much fun doing this next meme for the first time last week, I had to try it again!
Letters of Intent
by "Foursons"!

Dear Stylist-Scissorhands,

I appreciate your patience with me as I sat down in your chair and told you I had no idea what I wanted to do with my hair. I understand that customers myself are the bane of your professional existance... but between a troublesome toddler and a maniac dog, my overwhelming job and my devoted husband, when do I have time to think about personal style?

But when I told you that I wanted to go "a little shorter", I didn't mean Carol Brady short. Layers and all, I look like Florence Henderson circa 1971. It's not a flattering look for me. Even worse, I cannot get my hair into a ponytail now without my flyaway bangs falling back into my face.

So the next time I tell you I'm not sure what I want to do with my hair, do me a favor: just take off a quarter of an inch and give me a nice blowout. I promise, I'll leave you a bigger tip.

Your Not-So-Happy Customer,
Elizabeth

And in the spirit of trying something new, I'm doing Kailani's...

Kailani's asking us:

If you were a teacher, which subject would you teach?

This one's easy! I have my undergrad in history, and for a long time, I planned to teach high school level history & civics. I had a grand dream of treating my high school students like college students; giving them more liberties in class, and teaching them through example what a true democracy is. It didn't even take me a student teaching position to make me realize that my vision was never going to happen with 15-year-old students.

Over the years, I've taught dance classes and swim lessons... but despite my college major, I've never set foot in a high school since the day I graduated for ANY reason!

If you're new to my blog, welcome! I hope you like what you see. Leave a comment and let me know you stopped by so I can repay the visit. And don't forget to enter my latest giveaway-- a Jurlique baby bath set valued at $72!

LOL love the letter!! I'm so glad I have a brilliant hair stylist!

mhjinich.wordpress.com sorry wouldn't let me sign in with the other account!

Oh I was and I taught, Music and Liberal arts. I would love to teach theater.
Here's my Aloha Friday link for you

I almost studied to be a college professor in English. So English or Literature would be my dream class to teach.

If I was a teacher I would like to teach primary grades, one or two!

I would love to teach the facts of life but in reality I would love to teach either history or english

Stopping in by way of Friday Fragments. Congratulations on the Favorite Friday Fragmenter. I just got it this time. My first one.

I love history. It was my favorite subject. And my wife did just about the same thing at her last hairdo visit. She came home with a very disappointing look after telling the stylist what she wanted. She asked for a bit darker look. She left home blonde and came back a complete brunette. I was like WHATTTTTTT!

Ohhh dear. I know all about how it is to go to Stylist ScissorHands. I'm sorry about your head! At least it grows back. :) (That's what I had to keep telling myself.)

Why did they not have bounce playgrounds when I was a kid? All the playgrounds I ever went to were like metal over cement and when you fell off something you broke your arm. Bounce playground sounds so much more fun!

First of all, I REALLY need to get a new job or I am going to be dead in a few years. I am always SO BORED at work!

If I was a teacher, I would teach English. I would MAKE my students learn how to write correctly and help them to appreciate real literature instead of Twilight and other crap that is out there. My students would love me. Really.

Popping by from Foursons ....

I'm never bored at work and I love my job ... I prefer it to being at home sometimes (like when my daughter is PMS-ing). Statistically speaking, I should not die of a heart attack. Score.

I liked your letter, and have also walked out out of salons bitter, and sad. I was once given a hair cut that I thought made me look like Charlize Theron in North Country. Well, not the bod and the face ... but the mullet-ish hair.

If I was a teacher .. well, those kids would be in trouble ....

Wow...sooo many questions to answer.... Congrats on almost 5 years of marriage...and bigger congrats your mom & dad. That's awesome!

I was a teacher (& a principal)... I've taught 1st grade and kindergarten. But if I could teach ANYTHING... I'd love to teach a group of women a class on mixed media art. I'm not a pro...but would love to do it!

If I were a teacher, I'd teach history in a way fun, cool, thought-provoking way. It can happen.

I wish my hubby had a bromance - he really needs a male bff.

I hate when hair stylists get scissor happy! I'm so sorry you got a bad haircut. Hopefully it will grow back quickly and you will once again have your ponytail.

Thanks for linking up, you sent me several new followers last week!

How fun to get to go away for your anniversary! Hubs and I went away for our 5th, too. We went to California for 5 days. First time without the kids overnight. I was enormously pregnant with our third at the time, so it wasn't quite as much fun as it could have been!

My hubs and I got away for our 10th anniversary in June for almost an entire week and it was heaven. So enjoy every second of that vacation!

Maybe a ponytail will be possible again in time for your trip? A girl can hope, hmm?

Have a great weekend!

oh I would do 3rd grade def! And hairstylist well when youfind one NEVER let her go lol

OMG with the hair!!! Don't you want to sit down "What Not To Wear" style and have Nick go to town on you and you come out looking fab? It. So. Never. Happens. That. Way.

Oh dear...and this is the same stylist I probably made an appt. with for the first time in another couple weeks? Gulp! I hope she doesn't screw up my hair, either.

Hahaha, that's too funny about your fuzzy socks at the playground!

That's great your husband has a close guy friend now. I think men really miss out on friendships as adults, much more so than us women. We crave girl-time and seek it out a lot more than they do!

Happy Friday and have fun at your V'Day dinner!

Ack! Sometimes my worst anxiety is before a haircut -- and I've gone to the same lady since I was about 3 years old! :-D Try to bring a picture next time -- or at least one of Carol Brady with a big red 'X' through it! ;-)

Bummer about the haircut. I love teaching English, but you're right, it isn't everything I thought it would be...but I still love it! Maybe some day I'll make the leap from middle school to high school (I almost did last year but chickened out...it was my dream schedule except for one class).

Anyway, enjoy your weekend!

Happy Valentines Weekend! ♥

So glad to hear you won't be eating at Hardees although it wouldn't be that bad right?

Totally laughing at the Bromance...haha! Have you seen the movie I love you man? I know guys like that and it cracks me up!

Your parents sound awesome!

Boy loves those indoor playgrounds too. Especially when there are big kids there!

I hate it when people cutting my hair cut it to short. If I can't pull it up it is to short!

I love you man stars Paul Rudd, Jason Segel,Andy Samburg....its sooooo funny, Its on Cinemax right now if you have that channel. Seriously the best movie about a bromance ever!

Love the hairsylist letter! Ugh, they never seem to listen.. How exciting to be getting away! We will be celebrating our fifth wedding anniversary in April, though I'm not sure what we will do! Thanks for visiting, have a great weekend!

Love today's headline!! So should I worry when my daughter tells me she is bored! Ha!

And yay for your parents! 35 years!! That is truly awesome.

And yay for you guys getting away. I have to warn you when my daughter was just under 2 hubby and I took a cruise and I missed her so much I cried a few times.
I spent so much money on ship to shore calls and vowed not to do that again!

We have gone away since but 2 nights max!

Good luck!

Jealous that you two get to get away though!

Wow, first time away and you're going for a week? That is great. My husband and I have been slowly working up to a longer stint away...we want to do 9 days next year for our anniversary....

Have a wonderful Valentines Day.

*The blurry pic on my post today was from an attempt at taking pics of my son jumping. The result of the "photo shoot" will be posted on Sunday, stop by if you get a chance.*

I would rather chew off my left arm than be a teacher-really. :) I wish there was an indoor play place here besides the one at McDonald's-what a great way to get the energy out!

um ART is that a subject lol or Science that was always a great subject 4 me

The Friday carnivals are a lot of fun, aren't they? I laughed at your pink socks.

Sorry about the haircut. I hate when they don't listen to you and do whatever they want. I had that a couple cuts ago. Grr.

If I were a teacher I would have loved to have taught Astronomy. It's so interesting.

I have yet to find a hairstylist that can do what I want on my hair.

Oh, yikes - fortunately hair grows! Good luck finding another stylist! Loved your fragments. Happy Valentines weekend.

Ooooooo....bouncy playgrounds, how fun!
I'm not sure what subject I would want to teach...I just know it wouldn't be math!

sorry you got a crazy hair cut ...we love the bouncy play grounds

That boredom stat at the top is crazy! Wow! Anyway, my husband and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary last summer, I'm posting a video tomorrow, that I made for him for our anniversary, not that kind of video, lol. Come check it out, I posting it, as my Valentines post :)

I would teach music so I could include dance, because I love to dance.

Your hairstylist letter of intent is EXACTLY why I never get my hair cut (well, only by this one lady at Girl Scouts maybe once a year)...But, I did always love Carol Brady...I always wished she was my mom. ;)

Thanks for popping over to my blog to say hi! In answer to your question, we went to Vegas for our 1oth. We had a blast! I had never been there and it was so much fun. You can read a tiny bit about it at
http://www.lifeinthebatcave.com/2009/12/highlight-of-2009.html

Wherever you are going, have fun!! If you've never left your little one overnight before it might feel a bit wierd at first, but relax and enjoy. The time goes by fast but it reenergizes you so much!

So when exactly in the Spring is your anniversary? Our 5 year is in March!

If I were a teacher, I would love to teach 9th grade biology. I loved that class!

I have a blog award over at my place for you...have a great weekend!

"You look GREAT in your pictures-- and I love that yellow top you're wearing in the first one.

You will be so happy you chronicled your pregnancy like this, taking note of even the smallest details... once the baby arrives, it's hard to remember these days, and this will help you look back on it all with a smile!
~Elizabeth"

Thanks so much! :) Yes, I am glad I could remember as much as I could. My memory seems to fail me often these days... lol.

That is funny about the "bromance" things. My husband doesn't have a friend like that really so it's not something I have to worry about. At times I wish he had a good friend, I feel bad that he doesn't have many.

About the teaching question I would definitely teach English. I love it! :) I actually went to school for Elementary Education, I spent two years in that and then switched to another school, and did an associates in general studies instead.

Hey, where are you going for your anniversary??

Can I get the name of your stylist? I totally want that Carol Brady look! LOL! I did that in the fall... What was I thinking asking for shorter hair!!??
Just Jenn~ www.seizingmyday.com

At least your socks didn't have holes in them! Happy Saturday to you!

Loved the letter to the hairdresser!! LOL!!

loved the letter to the hairstylist,I cut my hair short and came out looking like Ms Swan from Mad TV,it was hilarious,tg hair grows back! at least if you look like Carol it cant be that bad :)Photo??

That letter to your stylist makes me want to send mine flowers!
