It's no secret on my blog that I think I'm a Queen... after all, I am named for England's reigning monarch (ok, ok, I was not named in her honor per se, but we do share a name at least).
Oh, and this is the perfect
opportunity to plug "Queen For A Week",
and remind you that this week, I'm
hand-picking one of you!
In any event, I am proud to be the Queen (notice the capital "Q", no lower-case for this diva) of my castle. And although I am happily married, I could do without a rival monarch in my kingdom.
DH is every bit as much a Drama Queen as I am.
Need proof?
Ex. 1: He is incredibly sensitive to any disturbances in bed... a la, the Princess and the Pea:
Ex. 2: Whenever something doesn't go his way, he takes his voice up an octave, reaching notes only an operatic soprano should be able to hit.
Ex. 3: He loves to gossip. He likes to say that he doesn't, but give him the chance to talk about my friends, his friends, his co-workers, our neighbors, some strangers in the grocery store, and he will just start babbling like a woman.
The thing is, I don't exactly appreciate this healthy competition for my throne. I enjoy holding the title of Drama Queen in my house. I like being able to pull out the "woman card" whenever I feel like going into hysterics and stomping my feet a little. I want to be the one-and-only-forever-and-ever-amen Queen in my kingdom.
Sigh.
Do you think I could get rid of this divo by pushing him off that tower of mattresses? And don't even get me started on my... ahem... lady-in-waiting.

I know she's just waiting for me to kick off and steal my throne.

My Husband is a talker too! He will talk to anyone! G is so adorable in that pic! My daughter is a total drama queen when she gets in trouble or her brother takes a toy away from her. She get her bottom lip WAY out there and just wails. Daddy is always there for the rescue though. She has him right where she wants him, wrapped around her little finger.
Ha ha ha this post made me laugh and I needed this today
LOL JonJon is a bit dramatic. I'm always calling him the drama king. He's in the throws of being 3 right now and tantrums are daily every morning at our house. doesn't matter what it is..something will set that boy off!!! LOL
My daughter, who is now 25, is the Queen of Drama Queens! I think her daughter is going to be the same way...
I know just about every man does it, but The Husband whiiiines when he's sick. Not necessarily like a diva, but more like a baby, but I just liked that I had a forum to complain about that. ;-)
haha, the princess and the pea!!!
I swear men gossip just as much as women. I have witnessed it in action and I just die of laughter and then when I call these fine "un-gossipping" men out...they whine...we don't gossip, we are shooting the s*it!
Love your Lady in waiting comment, she is adorable!
My husband loves to gossip too. He will come home and say to me...wanna hear the latest gossip and we will sit like two little girls and go over the gossip.
Just like Much More Than Mommy, my husband whines like a baby when he is sick and it drives me insane!!
Ohmyword...Husby loves to gossip over here too!! And he def. has more of the 'diva' aspects in our home...it's all good. I can handle it! :P
and speaking of your research...I have many times taken a mid-day nap in my car in the parking lot at work. It helps on those long days when sleep is all you want!! Very rejuvenating.
I bet DH is not a Drama Queen. NO HE's NOT, LEAVE HIM ALONE. We as husbands have to stick together.
IT IS ALL IN YOUR HEAD.
Psst.. Can you tell him to email me, so we can gossip?
When it comes to whiny, dramatic men, I feel certain I have the market cornered, particularly now that we have a newborn.
"I just cannnnt stay awake another second, B. I don't know why I can't and you can, but I just cannnnt."
Uh, excuse me? I just asked you to change her diaper, not grow breasts and take over her feedings, drama king!
There isn't even a competition in this house. He's clearly the queen of this castle!
My husband is sometimes so anti-drama that it actually pisses me off. Doesn't he understand that I NEED to gossip? And why won't he humor me just a little? He even calls me out on being a drama queen.
Me: (whining, of course) Honeeeeey, Will you please help with the laundry? It's going to take me all day.
Him: Stop being a drama queen, it'll maybe take you an hour, besides, I cleaned the whole house.
He sucks sometimes.
Careful. It looks like the Usurpers are trying to overthrow you.
No drama from either of them. At least, not yet with baby boy. But my husband is soooo far from a drama queen. And I like it that way! Hopefully son will follow suit.
Elizabeth, VERY FUNNY post! Especially the gossip part and the princess and the pea. Time to push him off the bed, I think.
I love this! And I just love the picture of your little lady in waiting! So adorable.
My hubby's not much for the drama. He's pretty laid back about most things. But my kids -- ohhh that is a whole nother story. Just yesterday my 5 y/o, Miss K, had to throw a fit b/c no one would play Memory with her. You would've thought the world was coming to an end!
Oh my husband and I met at college doing a theatre show, he was the lead in the play so we have drama upon drama in our household. The worst is when he is sick or in pain. Now that I am 8 and 1/2 months pregnant my sympathy for the dramatics of his aches and pains is non exsistent which leads to sometimes even more theatrics. Add to that an almost three year old boy who can work over even the strongest willed of parent (when he doesn't get his way the lip comes out, the tears flow, and he sniffs the words "I need to snuggle") We have drama, yes yes we do!
HA!! This has me LOL'ing!!!! Divo...I think you just created a word!! Love it!!
Thankfully I married a Knight...so no competition here!!! :)
What a hilarious post!
I have to say that there's no competition here for who's the best Drama Queen.. but hubby can CERTAINLY gossip with the best of them! Men never want to fess up to that, do they?
You tell DH Jimmy MacElroy said WAZ-UP. I got stick up for the other husbands. We get bashed alot.
But.....If you or him go look at my wifes blog, DH might take my man card away after her posts today.
Ok with me and 4 daughters you would think dh wouldn't have a chance to be a drama queen, well you'dbe dead wrong he is the most high and mighty drama queen. He wines about everything never helps around the house and god forbid he is injured in any way, I hear about it forever. WaWAWAW
I don't even get the chance to cause drama because he has already started it.
When my husband talks about his football video game or his basketball video game I swear he believes he is part of the team.
"We made it to the Superbowl." he screams
I always make fun of him...and he takes so long to get ready..I'm always waiting for him...he's such a GIRL! (haha)
You just need to find the biggest tiara and sport it around!
Hubs is the biggest drama queen when he is sick. He expects me to wait on him hand and foot.
Um, yeah, right!
OMGosh! My husband is SO dramatic! You got me started now. If he hurts himself, like stubs a toe, he will just go off like he cut off an arm and will whine about it for HOURS! And if he is telling a story, it is always much bigger and more dramatic than it was. I have a hard time believing things he tells me because I don't know if he embellished them!
Oh I have a dramatic one too. Sometimes more than I am.
I call them Drama Kings.
Hahahaha- I love that you called him out! My husband plays the victim with the best of them. Oh how it irritates me!
The picture of your little lady is awesome!
And I couldn't begin to list all the ways my husband works to take my throne...
That princess is quite a cutie!!
My husband is pretty drama free. But my daughter -d-r-a-m-a queen and she is 5! Can't wait until she is a teenager!!
I would probably break your comment for with tales of my 10 year old GIRL and her drama! Thankfully it goes in phases.
My 2 year old sighs a huge, deep sigh and puts her head in her hands whenever she is "sad"
There is no drama with hubby, but he can sulk on occassion (hello, TV) and gets mad when I call him on his behavior!
LOL!! This was such a funny post!
clothedmuch.blogspot.com
Ahhh, first I have got to say that G is absolutely adorable in that photo! Love the crown.
I thought your post was extremely funny and brought a smile to my face.
She can't have your throne til she inherits it...so, find her a husband you don't like, have him knocked off, then introduce her to some "Camille"...
Thanks for the info about naps and intelligence. As a sleep-deprived mom I knew...uh, there was a reason...
My 2yo is SUCH a drama queen. Today at lunch when we had the nerve (THE NERVE!!) to give her chicken nuggets, she put her hand on her forehead and just sobbed (fake sobbed, mind you) her little heart out.
Oh my. We are in for a treat in about 12 years...!
hahahaha!!! that is awesome! does your hubby read your blog? I bet he would love the "divo" description!! =)
My youngest son is MR. DRAMATIC! I can't even imagine what he will be like when he gets older =)
LOL... I soooo needed this today, as my DH is such a DQ, that he shushed me when I asked him a question about RL & he was wrapped up in the hockey game.
As IF my 2 sec question, during a time-out was REALLY going to impact his enjoyment of the game.
Especially since that was the only words I spoke to him last night.
Because, he was watching (read: living) the game.
& yes, I do realize, you will take his side, but I can still vent on how much it sucks! Hugs!
Drama men? I know. I could list and list away about mine. Sheesh.
My is a total drama queen with a capital D. She is so bad that I have almost given up my crown just to keep the peace.
Hubby is only a drama queen when it comes to finances. WE CAN'T AFFORD that! It really puts a damper on our home buying/ house decorating budget. :-p
You are very welcome... I am not sure I really helped, but I am glad you got it worked out. Wasn't that comment strange??? The writers name was in chinese characters... so no idea what to think. Hopefully it was complimentary ;-)
I totally agree, men gossip just as much as women, even though they will blatantly deny this!
Nah---Men don't gossip! (wink)
Thanks for visiting my blog on my SITS day!
and here I thought my husband was cynical... maybe gossip is a better word... ;-)
Ha! Just cracking up over here! Note to self: Find a man who is quite capable of allowing me to rule!
And that photo is priceless!
Bwahahahaha.
I'm dying.
And This Daddy's comment...OMG. OMG. OMG.
Ok. I'm composed enough now to say...Similar problems here. *Sigh*
Luckily for me I have all boys. No one is waiting to steal my throne! lol
Oh the drama when bath time/play time/anything time is OVER. And he's a boy!
