I'm not gonna lie...
From their furniture to their bedding to their knick knacks, I am in love with absolutely everything that company does...
Well, almost everything...
You see, I can't afford anything in that store. (Not true-- I did purchase candle there, once, but about $24; I've never burned it... I can't afford to!) So instead, I attempt to furnish my homes with odds and ends from
And now, finally, somebody is giving me the credit I deserve!
All day, "Homebody Holly" is hosting a Pottery Barn knockoff party... it's your chance to show off your stylish side. I've been looking forward to this for WEEKS!
My entry into today's blog hop isn't so much a craft-- it's more a way to decorate! I love the "shabby chic" look PB is so widely known for. When we remodeled our family room two years ago (this room used to be painted Granny Apple Green... ick), I wanted to decorate it with all PB goods. One trip to the store, and some serious sticker shock later, I realized that was out of my price range. So I went to HomeGoods, Linens&Things, Bed, Bath, & Beyond, and even my own attic in search of adorable, affordable knickknacks to use in my home.

The breakdown:
-Set of stars: $10 for three (third not pictured; I actually think it's lost somewhere) at BBB
-White flowers: $0.99 for the bunch (this is only about half) at Old Time Pottery
-"LOVE" Sign: $7.99 at Burlington Coat Factory
-Set of mirrors: $15 for three at BBB
-Picture frame: $5 at Target
-Ceramic statue: A wedding gift I found stashed in my attic

TOTAL COST: $39
Not bad, huh? More than two years later, it's still a look that I love. Sometimes, I rotate other objects in and out to keep it fresh, but even those other odds and ends are frugal finds. This part of my living room really reminds me of a PB catalogue... even if you don't think so, just lie and tell me you agree, ok?
Do you have a decorating or design creation you want to show off? Head to Homebody Holly's to link up and play along!

Love it!! I have 2 shelfs in our bedroom sort of set up like that. :) I don't have a picture of it. oh well.
Cute! We've been moved into the new house for over two months and I've done very little decorating so far...still looking for motivation!
LOVE it! Might have to check out the hop and get a few ideas for my family room re-do that I'm DYING to do!
When we first bought our house, I HAD to have everything Pottery Barn. I went to the store, bought $1600.00 worth of stuff and put it on a pretty new credit card. I was so happy.
Then I got home and showed it all to Leland who FLIPPED OUT.
I returned it all the next day.
Love It!!!! You can absolutely decorate my house...haha!
Looks great! So is there a PB/Faux PB answer to kiddo clutter? ;)
Super cute...you know what store I LOVE for decorating? Pier One. It's awesome.
fabulous!
Really Great! I'm a star girl...loving the stars!
Um...I probably shouldn't admit this because you may ban me from your blog, but I have never even seen a PB catalog. I love your decorating though.
You did a great job! We are working on some PB inspired shelves today too.
Nice stuff! I wish I knew how to decorate well. I have never been to pottery barn either. Everyone keeps talking about it so I think I need to go sometime!
Love how you haven't burned that candle yet!!
I love picture frames and cool knick knacks and fabulous job decorating for under 40.00!!!
Love it!!
oh that is so cute! and I completely agree about PB. I love it, but can't stand to spend that much money on something, especially because I get sick of things after about a year or two, and I want a new look.
We just finished remodeling our entire house (took 3 years, lol), but I put together a before and after video of it all. I've been wanting to post it, so perhaps now's the time to show it off :)
I started with my master bedroom, and worked our way around the entire house, I've already changed the theme and colors in my master, lol, so that goes to show you, that it's NOT worth spending lots of money on decor, although I DID go a little overboard with my bedding this time around. I just COULDN"T pass up this quilt I found :)
I love PB too, especially PB for Teens. I WISH I could afford to furnish my boys' room with their stuff. Love everything else PB too...especially their furniture but buying a new sofa is probably the equivalent of buying a used Oldsmobile.
Cute! I've got to get my living room, dining room & bedroom decorated. I just get confused on what kind of taste I have. I can't decorate in the Winter. I end up with dark decor...so I'm holding out for Spring :)
I read your post and thought "am I on my own blog?"
So me! lol
I did my daughter's entire bedroom this way - I found a picture in PB kids that I LOVED, knew I couldn't afford, and went to stores like Walmart, Target, etc to get almost the exact same stuff for SO much cheaper. It's the best room in our whole house. :)
I think you pulled of the PB look very well! Love the barn stars...I have some too.
So glad you joined my party :)
Great wall display. Aren't the PB catalogs just a treasure trove of inspiration. I also love the barn stars how you put it all together.
I came over from Holly's place.
You are so fortunate. I don't have two fighting for JDaniel's attention. They love him, but for very different reasons have other things they concentrate on.
It looks great! My problem with things like that is the dust. I hate to dust.
I love PB too but can't afford it. I usually buy candles as well, although one time I lucked out and got this gorgeous white starfish bowl from there on clearance! I love to use Target and World Market to fake the look!
It looks great! I also love PB, but I don't love their pricetags...
They had some very adorable Dr. Seuss bedding sets when I was pregnant that I was convinced I NEEDED...well, I didn't get them and I found out I didn't need them either :)
I can't wait to have a home of my own to decorate! We are in a duplex right now so I don't really decorate, at all :( One day I will get to be creative like you!
So cute!
Lovely!! I really like the idea of display shelves so you can switch out what you don't want seasonally, or when you get tired of it. :)
I love it! LOL to the candle!!!!
I am OK at decorating, I think I do not have that gene in me. It takes me a lot of time.
I am re-doing our basement and quite truthfully, I am getting a little nervous about what to buy!
Wow, I'm going to have to go check that out -- I am completely interior design challenged and the walls in our home are still bare!
Love it! I wish we could meet IRL because we are SO much alike! I wish I could afford them too! I do have a few pieces, but I WILL one day own one of their sectional couches!
Just curious... Did you and DH fight when you hung the floating shelves? We have 2 in our family room that almost divorced us! Not really, but kinda...
Great finds there! I have those same floating shelves in my bedroom...from Pottery Barn of course! I like to shop at Pier 1, Crate & Barrel, and cheaper stores like Winners (Canadian version of TJ Max).
I love it! From what I can tell the room looks great! I am cheap too when it comes to decorating.
This reminds me of design on a dime on hgtv! I'm still here! between work, home and going to school, I have very little blogging time! I'll update soon!
Super cute!
That looks freaking amazing.
I love PB too. I've been stalking their catalogs for YEARS and what is really sad is that I KEEP them for years. I recently found one that was about five years old.
That looks so good! I have got to get me some barn stars. I just LOVE them! I'm loving the shelves too.
Great look. I am a thrifty decorator also.
We painted my daughters room for $10.00 off of the oops paint rack at a local home improvement store. The look is absolutely awesome.
You do great work!
Cute decorating style! I love it.
love it!
Whenever we finally find a house that doesn't already have an accepted offer, you can come and decorate it for me! I am not very good with decorating, mostly b/c I know I lack the $$ to decorate. Sounds like you could teach me a thing or two ;-)
That looks awesome! When I lived in "pleasantville" we had a PB. I used to hate going in there because I knew everybody could tell I was taking notes for trips to Hobby Lobby or TJMaxx. LOL. I had so many pages cut out of their catalogs I finally gave up and now I save the whole darned thing! :)
I LOVE pottery Barn too!
When I was pregnant with my 3rd I got all c.r.a.z.y and bought a whole bedding set for the crib.
Like $700 later, it is the only I can say I have ever bought from there..that was 8 years ago and they still send me their magazines:)
Yep. I do.
Come over and start decorating cause I have the ugliest living room and dining room ever!!
Great job!!! Thank you for sharing!!
I love the stars!! I also love that it has been a look that has worked for you for a couple of years!! THOSE are the best!! The ones that make us happy!!
This is really cool. I love the look. And I'm going to check out the other links. Cool Blog Hop!.

The Mom Road
I could have used that 4 years ago! ;-) I just stalk PB for their sale/clearance items. ;)

I remember the day I made one solitary purchase at Pottery Barn Kids when my husband and I were in seminary and broker than the 10 Commandments. It was a pillowcase for $4. I turned it into a stylish daybag for my toddler. And you know what? I found that what I made was way better than what was in stores anyways. *self congratulatory high five* *also realizing self congratulary high five is really me just clapping my hands*
