I'm A Sucker For A Sale

Posted by: Confessions From A Work-At-Home Mom

ON SALE!

What is it about those
two little words that make
people go crazy?

Not that I'm one of them...

I am not a sucker for a good sale.

I am not a sap for a quality coupon.

I do not go downright zany for clearance.

Right before the holidays, in the midst of my utter confusion over what I was going to ask Santa to bring me, a co-worker told me that my favorite store for all things clutter was going out of business.

Going out of business???

NOOOOOOO!

Naturally, at the very first chance I got, I did not rush to the store to stock up on a bunch of stuff I didn't need. Enough Christmas cards to last me until 2027; napkins and placemats for a table of 12 (although my dining room only seats six); new bathmats for the master bath, even though I like our current ones just fine. Oh yeah, and don't forget new brown curtains to replace the old brown curtains of the exact same style and pattern.

Why did I feel
compelled to waste our hard-earned
cash on this junk?

Because that "junk" was 75% off!!!

What will I do with my booty of treasure?

I'm still not exactly sure. I still feel guilty for buying it.. but c'mon... who could pass up a total liquidation clearance?!?!

When was the last time you went
"overboard" at a store? Do you have that one place
where you can't say "not me"?

My NMM post was about finding stuff on clearance too!!!!!!! :) love clearance stuff!!

It's not spending money. It's saving!

There are way too many places that I can't say "not me." ;) I love shopping!

Oh, Target and it's 75% off Christmas stuff got me! We spent $160, but saved $199.

My stores are TJ Maxx and Target! :) I love a sale!

I love a good sale and always have a pile of goodies in the closet for birthday and holiday gifts!

That ONE place? Nope. I can honestly say I don't have ONE place I can't say no.

I have several. Ahem.

TODAY!!!
at a local consignment clothing children's store!!!
They were having $1 Blowouts!!
My son is 4 months but I got him Ralph Lauren, Tommy, Gymboree and Gap (2t~6) !!!! Plus my 3 daughters go a couple things as well whoo hoo!!!
I am a name brand whore, what can I say?

I love me some Target & any store at an outlet. Love it!

Just yesterday at kroger because OMG special K was on sale and you get free stuff that is not good for you with it ...woohoo... so my list of four things went to four bags

I hate to shop 99% of the time, so I would have to say in all honesty that I don't go overboard anywhere. Ok, so I am lame, I know....

Glad to know you would leave your Christmas lights up too!
I love a good bargain..isn't stocking up on goods just being frugal? Planning ahead? Even if "ahead" is well into the next decade :)

i have the same problem with "sale" ITEMS, ahem, junk...
can't resist...
love your tip of the day!
thanks for visiting my blog....:)

Elizabeth,

I HATE HATE HATE shopping. My my hubby loves it and must read the sale fliers for all his favorite places and all the local markets each week. He must stop by Walmart (which I hate more than shopping) just to see what the deals are. He knows where all the stores stick their super clearance items. And even though it wears on my nerves if I must be part of it, if I can hang out at home and do something useful while he rummages I am super grateful for it. I am very much addicted to eBay... which is where I do almost all my shopping... and Amazon.com.

I just started thrifting like it's my job. :) My husband says it doesn't matter if I spend $20 there or Target if we don't have the $20 to spend in the first place.
Silly boy.

I post pics on my family website. There will be pics of my bebe's bday there if you want to see them. :)

Thanks for the comment. Your sweet bebe is super stinking cute!

Thank you for stopping by my blog!Nice to know I'm not the only sentimental mommy who wants their child to freeze in time!I love to shop, and would have to say that my not me stores are, goodwill, salvation army, target and hobby lobby.Whew, those stores are dangerous!Lets not even mention ebay,or craigslist.;)

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I too like a good sale!

Oh my goodness, me too! I clip coupons and then forget to take them to the store and let them expire.

Clearance is baaaaad. But who can pass up a good deal?!? Yes, it might be 3 sizes too big for my daughter, but I can pay $3 for it now or $25 for it when she actually needs it! And her closet has shelves just perfect for organizing too-big clothes... No brainer! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

75% Off? Love it!

But it's my husband who is a sucker for stocking up. I ask him, "You know I have to find room to store this, don't you?" Yet the deals continue to come home.

Sell all the extra on ebay. You may surprise yourself and make a little profit!

I try to stay away from sales and all stores...it doesn't really work though :o) I am a sucker for JcPenney sales...I love to buy clothes there on sale. I am really good at getting brand name jeans for under $10 at JP :o)

I consider a sale at IKEA a hot date, and I have to drive an hour to get there!

I am NOT a huge sucker for after-Christmas sales...I do NOT have 5 plastic containers of wrapping paper...I do NOT insist on purchasing rolls of wrapping for $.99 each...Nope...NOT me!!

costco and target. and amazon.com. um, and macy's.

pretty much anywhere. I kind of have a problem.

Kiran

You have to love the after Christmas sales! IKEA had great stuff this year. Your blog is so fun. Thanks for stopping by mine earlier!

Oh, goodness. Don't those words make most women anxiously excited? Totally!

And I'd say 75% off is pretty darned amazing. That's nearly free! ;)

I have a slight issue with Sam's Club. OF course we'll need the 20,000 bottle of Tylenol. I pretty much lose all control, and Marmot has to peel my fingers off the 150lb bag of coffee beans. Although I usually manage to hit $200 in spite of him. *sigh*

I do love a good sale! How can one resist? Now, if I could only find that really awesome sale on a DSLR! :)

I don't have one store, but any store going out of business like that would have me hoarding too! ;-)

I have a hard time walking out of the Target dollar section without at least three things in my cart! And Target in general tempts me to buy way more things than I really need:)

Just think of it this way: there's no telling how much Christmas cards will cost come 2027, ya know, with inflation at all. You didn't spend money, girlfriend, you SAVED it! ;)

If it makes you feel any better - I would rather run down my street naked in the middle of winter than wrap presents but I somehow found myself at Target the day after Christmas with approxomately 3209482039 rolls of wrapping paper in my cart. Because they were all 50% off. *Sigh*

Ah, we have so much in common...yes, I love clearance, esp. TARGET! And yes, buy those cards early. Good luck and know that you are NOT alone. I think is something to do with being a girl...want to get a good deal and save money!

Wal Mart. I can't seem to walk out of there any less than $25 lighter, even if I went in for a bottle of water.

hahah! guilty as charged! you and I have the same serious illness. it drives matt crazy. my statement is always "But loook at how much I saved" his is "Who cares, look at how much you spent on something we don't need!"
oh bargains, I just can't say no:)

Target is my "drug" of choice. I can't stay away from those clothing clearance racks. I was so terrible the weekend after Christmas, I stood there in the seasonal department and told myself "no, the candy will not last until next Christmas. That is so gross." Thankfully I listened to myself and passed on the candy. I am also really bad about stocking up on food, non perishables. I can't help myself when it comes to Buy one Get ones. what's the harm when it's on sale and it's something you are going to use. Who doesn't need to have 6 extra bottles of salad dressing, or 8 boxes of Taco kits available in their 2nd pantry? Guilty!

I am a junkie for any store, any sale! It does not matter who, where, what, how.....I am just a junkie for the sale junk! High end to the dollar store! I am an addict.
