I Just Couldn't Resist...

Posted by: Confessions From A Work-At-Home Mom

I just couldn't resist participating in Keely's "Getting To Know YOU" feature. So...

1. If you were stranded on a desert island and could pick one person to be stranded with you, who would you pick? Family members not included.
I'm glad family members aren't included, because that would be too tough to choose-- DH or G? Thanks for taking that decision out of my hands! Actually, I have a fairly random answer for this question. I wouldn't pick any of my best friends; I'd actually pick my favorite co-worker, affectionately known to all as "J$" (yes, "Jay Money"). He is a huge sports fan, like myself, and he always can make me laugh. There's nothing romantic there at all; I just know we'd have a lot of fun until our rescue (he's also smart enough to find ways to get us OFF that island!).

2. Do you read celebrity gossip?
Well... only if it comes across the AP (re: Associated Press) wires at work. I don't have time otherwise. If I get the chance to grocery shop by myself (which rarely happens, then sometimes I'll look at a gossip magazine in the check-out.

3. Favorite show you're watching this season?
Um, hello? Hasn't ANYBODY been reading my posts? It's so obviously Glee...

4. How tall are you?
Just like Keely, I'm 5' 8". But I love to wear heels, especially really high stilettos; they normally take me up to about 6 foot even. It's great, because DH is 6' 6", so I never have to worry about being taller than him. I'd be lying if I didn't say it was one of the big reasons I was attracted to, and subsequently married him.

5. What was the last book you read?
I'm currently reading Jodi Picoult's "The Pact". In fact, I'm about 3/4 of the way through it, and managed to include a reference and summary of it in a conversation with DH just this morning. Has anybody else read it? I love Picoult, because she always throws me for a loop that I never see coming. Most authors can't get one by me, but she surprises me almost every time with her twists and turns... and on a literary note, would anybody be interested in an "online/virtual book club" feature on my blog?

6. Flats or heels?
Read my answer to question #4...

7. If you had to choose one natural disaster to go through, what would you choose-- Earthquake, Tornado, or Hurricane?
Interesting story here: When I was 3 years old, my family and I were supposed to move into a brand new house. In order to make the transition a smooth one, my parents took me on a trip to Disney World while the movers moved all our furniture into the new house. A day before the move was supposed to happen-- while we were already in Florida-- a tornado tore through our new neighborhood and destroyed our house. It's only by the grace of God that the house had not been transferred into my parents' names yet, and that none of our belongings were inside. The builder still owned the house, and so was responsible for completely rebuilding it. We eventually moved in three months later. I've covered earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, flooding, etc., on my job, and it's always painful watching the survivors sort through the rubble. I don't have a good answer for this question.

8. Thong, panties, or (gasp) granny panties?
Haha, well, when my monthly visitor is stopping by, I go straight for my granny panties. It's an outward symbol to DH that says, "Don't touch me!" Other than that, it's usually bikini panties unless I'm wearing an outfit that necessitates a thong. I don't believe in showing panty lines.

Wow, you are tall! I'm 5'3", though I once dated a guy who was 6'7". That was interesting!

I love Piccoult. I rarely see the endings coming. Don't get me started on the horrible changes made to My Sister's Keeper when it became a movie. The whole shock was the end and then they changed it- ugh!

I'd love to do an online book club!

Laughed at your "Don't touch me!" haha

What a crazy story about the house when you were younger!

I am a huge fan of Glee! I had forgotten about it though slightly since it is not back on yet and all of the other shows have started back up again! Glad I came across your blog on Keely's hop!

I'm glad you couldn't resist playing!!

Dude..I wear my panties too..when the my monthly visitor comes..definitely means.."leave me alone"..but they're not quite granny..:-)

I love Jodi Picoult..Handle with Care's a good read.

Wow! I am a flats girl, but if my guy towered 10 inches above me, I would definitely do the heels thing, too!

Ha! Your post on my blog made me laugh. I guess knowing nothing outside of CA, I have come to learn to handle earthquakes.

A tall DH! Thats awesome. *I once dated a guy who was 6'5"... I loved it* (The height that is). My hubby though is 5'10" so I never wear heels. Actually its fine by me cause Im not the most graceful person in them anyways!

I love Picoult - my fave fiction writer!

Thanks for sharing that tornado story - interesting!

The movie is based off the book. The movie is SOOOOOO good but definitely read the book first...I wish I did!

I would love a book club!! My friend and I had talked about trying to do something like that once, but just never followed through with it. My only concern would be that I don't have a lot of spare time (as a working mom yourself, I know you can relate!), so it takes me longer to finish a book than I would like. Hope to see this make it to your blog sometime soon!

"The Pact" was one of the biggest surprise endings out of all the Jodi Picoult books that I have read. The story kept me guessing the entire time. Man, I miss having time to read fiction. I am so committed to other things right now that it eats up what little spare time I have. The plight of the working mother. You know what I am talking about!

That is too funny about the granny panties being a warning sign.. not a bad idea there! Of course I may cheat and wear them even if it wasnt time ;) LOL

I asked this on another blog but how in the world do you have time to read?! Between reading all the blogs and doing twitter.. and the small...ahem... task of a crazy toddler I have like zero time left! Please share your time management skills ;)

Picoult's endings always surprise me too. I haven't read "The Pact" yet though.

We've been listening to the Glee soundtracks around here hard core lately. I wish it would hurry up and come back on.

I love me some Glee! And I'm not too proud of it, but I love celebrity gossip. It helps me realize money can't buy happiness.

I am right there with you girl on the panty thing!!! Nothing sends that don't touch me msg then undies that look like they came out of grandma's laundry basket!!!

That is so scary with the Tornado and your house. That's why I am scared of them!!

I would totally be interested in the book club thingy! I love to read and love to talk about what I am reading :o) I am a huge book worm!! It would just have to wait till after I move :o)

Thanks for stopping by! I know it was ages ago.

I am back trying to blog after a blogger vacation.

Great post!

Have a great day :)

I laughed at your 'don't touch me'. I certainly have to send that message as well ;-)

I love Piccoult as well. The Pact made me cry. All her books do pretty much.

I love your header!
