A Chance To Say "Thanks"

Posted by: Confessions From A Work-At-Home Mom

68 years ago today, America changed forever.

We were attacked at Pearl Harbor.

The cost was overwhelming:

-8 American battleships damaged or destroyed
-188 American planes damaged or destroyed
-2,403 American lives lost.

It launched the war to end all wars-- yet, there are two wars going on at this very moment. And in just a few short months, 30,000 additional fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, and friends will be heading overseas all in the name of our democracy and freedom.

I'd like to thank them, and I hope you'll join me.

Xerox (yes, the copy people) have launched a campaign to make that possible. "Let's Say Thanks" allows each one of us to select a thank you card designed by a child, choose a message of thanks, and send it overseas to a U.S. serviceman or woman serving our country. It costs you nothing, but it could mean everything to one of our soldiers, marines, sailors, or airmen.

To participate, all you have to do is click here.

And before I go, I have a "Not My Child! Monday" I couldn't resist adding...

What did my most darling, most precious, most adorable child do last week?

G did NOT pick a booger from her sweet little nose...

...and stick it right in my mouth!

Nope, not my charming little girl.

Have a great Monday, and don't forget to tell a soldier thank you!

eewwwww... gross!

thanks for reminding us about pearl harbor. Thanks to all our soldiers.

A friend emailed me the link to thank a soldier. It's a great cause and everyone should definitely do it.

Pick a nose and eat the findings? No, a child would never think to do that! =)

Important post! Thanks for reminding everyone!

What a great reminder for everyone. Thank you.

Thank you for stopping by.

Nice post!

And yucko!! My son does that all the time!

Oh no!!! The booger! That's hilariously gross!

Thank you for the moment to reflect on this historical day. :)

I hope we all remember Pearl Harbor the way it should be remembered, and not forget it like most have forgotten 9/11.

And I threw up in my mouth on that last part...eww

The link to send a thank you is not working. I would love the opportunity to participate. If it's not too much trouble could you e-mail me the link? Thanks for sharing.

As a Marine wife, bless you for this post! Great blog :)

Today was also my due date for Cameron... who SHOULD be 13 TODAY, but no... he wasn't ready to come out yet til the 16th. Stubborn boy.

Today is also my sister's 19th anniversary.

Plus Pearl Harbor. My Granddad was in WW2 & remembers it all!

My oldest brother was on the USS Missouri when they decommissioned it. A very special battle ship!

I'm also an Air Force veteran!! Thank you for taking the time to post this! And for the link!

ah hhhhaaaaa hhhhhhaaaaaa!!!

It doesn't compete with the extreme grossness of cat poo in the toddlers mouth, but on a more personal level EEEUUUUWWWW!

He he. Don't you love being a mom? ;-)

A beautiful reminder, and a small chuckle to lighten the memory. Thanks!

I was thinking about Pearl Harbor earlier today and had to say a little prayer.

As for the booger thing... my adorable little girl has tried the same thing. She is constantly sticking her little finger in that tiny nose and thinks it is just hilarious! She also laughs when she farts so I don't know what to make of her!

Thanks for reminding us and acknowledging this day. Even though it's hard to grasp that day since most of us weren't alive, all I need to do think about how I felt on 9-11 and then I can completely understand.

Great post! My daughter has fed me her boogers before. So nasty!

i love the movie ;)

im back to let you know i have something to make you smile as your blog does to me. visit real soon and grab it ;)
