UPDATE
As you can tell by the top of my blog, ya'll were a great help in helping me eliminate the header altogether. YAHOO! I also learnd a thing or two about HTML code in the process. A big "thanks" to everybody who chimed in with advice!

You ARE at the right place. The new laptop has me motivated to try some new ideas on my blog. So, I'm tinkering around on here.
But, for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get rid of the title bar (the one that now says, "from the desk of a full-time mom"). I want to "hide it" under the new header I made (on powerpoint, thanks Meredith for the idea!), but it won't let me. Yes, I've tried the option in my blogger editor that should allow me to do that, but it won't work. Help!
(Melody, Christina, I'm partcularly thinking of you here... did you do anything special to make yours that way?)
I wish I could help you! I was playing around with mine today, and completely messed it up, so I did a quick re-do...I'm definitely still trying to figure it all out, too! Love the header you made! Good luck!
Hmmmm....under "configure header" I have mine checked so that the title and description go behind the picture. Is there a way that you can just delete that particular "gadget" in the customize section of blogger? When you're in the arrange page elements section (when you click customize), try clicking where you have "from the desk of..." and see if there is a way you can "remove page element". If not, you can click on "Edit HTML" in the arrange page elements window and try to figure out what part of the HTML is the "from the desk of..." and just delete it. It may take some playing around with though. You might want to copy all of the HTML that comes up in that box so that you can re-paste it in if you don't take out the right thing.
Sorry if this isn't the help you need. Hopefully you'll get it figured out. I love the new header with all of the pictures of G.
My Husband says that you need to replace the header with a jpeg image..He did mine..Hope that helps!!

I am not sure if this will help, but you can try to edit your html code. Click on layout, and then on edit html code. Hold down ctrl and F (this will search the code) type in "from the desk of..." The place in the code that has those words should come up, and you can delete the words. It should be in the section titled header-wrapper. You can always save the html code by clicking on download full template so that if it does not work, you can go back to what you had. I hope that this helps!
It looks great! So glad you tried the Powerpoint. All I can think is if you erase the writing... and then maybe try to hide it? Oy. Don't know sista!
I have mine set to 'Instead of title...' and not 'behind'. Hope that helps..
